Fun Fact #1: The Fiesta Bowl is the only BCS bowl game that is NOT held at a home-field of a college team. It's no longer held at Sun Devil Stadium -- if you thought it was, you'd have it confused with the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.

Fun Fact #2: The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl was previously known as the Insight Bowl.

Fun Fact #3: The Insight Bowl was previously known as the Insight.com Bowl.

Fun Fact #4: The Insight.com bowl was previously held in the cities of both Phoenix and Tuscon (but not at the same time).

Fun Fact #5: Before being called the Insight.com bowl, the Tuscon bowl was called the Copper Bowl.

Fun Fact #6: The Copper bowl was not, contrary to popular belief, sponsored by the TPOA.

Fun Fact #7: Despite Fun Facts #2-6, some claim Saturday's game was the 24th Annual Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.

Fun Fact #8: The Fiesta Bowl will be held at The University of Phoenix Stadium, which, ironically, is neither in the city Phoenix nor on any university's campus.

Fun Fact #9: Fun Fact #1 was made possible because The University of Phoenix does not have a football team (despite an undergraduate enrollment of over 300,000, some of whom probably could score high enough on the SAT to play).

Fun Fact #10: On the other hand, it still might struggle to field a team: Would you believe the University of Phoenix is closing over half of their campuses (or is it campii -- and while we're at it: What's the plural of Phoenix?) due to budget cuts, and its enrollment is already down 50% from its 2010 peak?

Fun Aside #1: I imagine The University of Phoenix's basketball team would be pretty good. Famous alums include Shaquille O'Neal and Lisa Leslie.

Fun Fact #11: Yes, despite the noted struggles with profitability, the University of Phoenix paid $154.4 million to name a stadium after their institution. That was only about $250 for each student in 2010! Good to know our federal student financial aid was going into the right pockets. For only 3 times that, they could have built the entire stadium in the first place!

Fun Fact #12: To answer the question posed in Fun Fact #10: Some say that there is only one mythical Phoenix in existence at any one time, so it's irrelevant. Some say Phoenix is its own plural. Some say "Phoenixes." One said, "Phoenices." Does that mean this is not a fact? (And, yes, it's "campuses.")

Fun Thought Exercise #1: Can anything "mythical" be in "existence"?
